Designer Candles: A Touch of Beauty

The art of making candles has drastically changed over the past few years. Right from colorless to odorless candles, now we have scented candles with different colors and above all designer types. The whole art of making candles has therefore shifted into making candles that stand out in the market hence the rise in designer candles of different designs and shapes. • Use of stamps

Designer candles can either be in terms of decorations on the candles or simply the shape. Use of stamps is one of the most effective ways to decorate your designer candles. You can use a stamp of anything or any design. This method is simple in making designer candles as you simply need to apply paint on the stamp, and stamp it away on the candle. The candle will therefore have the design of the stamps. The advantage of this method is that you can have a stamp of any kind and design including names and even pictures. While stamping, do not apply too much paint on the stamp to avoid smudging of the design. This method is also open to correction in case you make a mistake by simply wiping off the paint from the candle before it dries up.

A pre-stamping trial should be carried out on paper to get the idea on how to press on the stamp while stamping the candles. Candles are usually round unlike many stamps. The technique of rolling the stamp onto the candle surface should also be practiced to make it easier to stamp the candles.

• Use of stencils

This is a method that is widely applied in making designer candles since the designs look more professional in a way. Arts and crafts stores have stencils that you can use in making of designer candles. Flexible stencils are required in this case to offer easy wrapping around the candles. Besides that, you can also make your own designs of stencils for use. After placement of the stencil correctly on the candles, a spray paint can then be used to fill in the design. Paint is filled carefully on the cut out sections and let to dry before gently removing the stencil outline. In case of any mistake, you can remove the ink by scraping the candle wax. More details can be added to the candle once the stencil is filled with ink. This may include the addition of other colors or elements.

• Use of wax

This method is very easy to use in designing your candles. The wax is melted into liquid form and molds of different shapes and designs made from it. Pour the melted wax into the molds and allow the wax to cool and harden. Take the shapes out of the mold when ready and apply melted wax to the back of the shapes then mount them to the candles. With the help of hair dryers, make the shapes easily curve around the candles and allow them to dry afterwards.
